About Us
After 16 years of operation, the original ABC campus in Yekepa, Liberia, had
to be closed in 1994 because of civil war. Efforts are now underway to
restore and reopen ABC's flagship campus. Meetings have already been held
with Liberia's President, Mrs. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, and her Vice
President, to inform them of ABC University's intention and commitment to
reopen the Yekepa campus. There have also been meetings with the Minister
of Education, Hon. Joseph Korto and the Director General for the Commission
of Higher Education, Dr. Michael Slawon.
Work teams are being organized to begin the restoration of the campus with
the assistance of Samaritans Purse and churches in the U.S. September 1,
2008 has been set as the date for reopening the university campus for
commencement of classes.
Location
The college is located in the community of Yekepa, high in the beautiful
mountains of eastern Liberia. The 22-building campus includes six residence
halls, a 10,000-volume library, classroom units, staff housing, a chapel,
a dining hall, and one of the few gymnasiums in the country. Liberia is
centrally located among a number of English-speaking countries, enabling
the college to enroll students from Sierra Leone, Ghana, and Nigeria.
Campus Life
Each day on the ABC campus begins with morning chapel service. Classes
run throughout the day and include Bible, Theology, Christian Education,
Mass Communication, and a wide variety of general education courses that
help develop well-rounded Christian leaders with a global perspective.
To keep the mind mentally alert and the body physically fit, the college
encourages students to participate in intramural and team sports such
as basketball, volleyball, and soccer.
