After graduating in 1997, God immediately called
Davidson Chifungo to serve as a missionary from Malawi into Mozambique.
This was soon after the civil war during which the country had been
denied an opportunity to hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Seizing the opportunity, Davidson began serving as an evangelist
in 1997. In 2000 he was ordained by the Presbyterian Church in Malawi
but continued to serve in Mozambique. In 2004 Mr. Chifungo left
Mozambique to be part of a Christian organization called Veritas
College.
Currently Davidson Chifungo is a program manager
with Veritas College. His main task is to train lay leaders for
Bible interpretation, application and communication. This is an
international, interdenominational organization, specializing in
"Integrated Leadership Development." Training takes place
in the local church. Update: Rev. Chifungo has just recently been elected as General Secretary of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterians (CCAP) Nkhoma Synod. There are only 3 synod's in Malawi and this one has OVER 2 million members!
How was African Bible Colleges Instrumental
in Mr. Chifungo's Ministry? In his own words, "ABC
... helped me to grow in my Christian faith. The college helped
me to become the leader I was meant to be. It also helped me to
realize and reach my potential in terms of ministry. It broadened
my understanding of the Word and the world." In that way it
"made me effective in both spheres of life: spiritual as well
as physical life. ABC also laid a strong foundation for my theological
understanding. This has helped me to excel in my post graduate studies
without having my spiritual life twisted. I now possess a Masters
of Theology from Stellenbosch University in Cape Town, South Africa."
African Bible Colleges is helping produce Christian
leaders in Malawi who are equipped academically and spiritually.
They can do any job and bring a Christian influence whether they
are placed in a para-church organization, NGO, civil service, public
service or direct ministry.
