Guannue

"Guannue describes his birthplace as "a primitive village," where education was not available and completely out of the question. It wasn't until Guannue's dad got a job with a company in Buchanan City, that Guannue had the chance to attend school. Guannue's passion is education. In Liberia, the educational system is broken and corrupt - to find an accredited school with qualified teachers is a challenge. In Liberia, if a student wants to pass a class, he must bribe his teacher. Or she must trade sexual favors for a good grade on a test. The latest UN statistic in Liberia says that two thirds of children are taught by teachers who are not qualified. Guannue's passion is to transform Liberia through quality education. When Guannue was twenty years old, he returned to his "primitive village" and established a Christian educational training center for the youth in that area. Guannue's actions are a testimony of his conviction that hope for Liberia begins with quality Christian education."
